Sudoku rules + solving strategies
Sudoku is simple to learn and requires no calculations.
To solve a Sudoku puzzle every number from 1 to 9 must appear in: each of the nine vertical columns, each of the nine horizontal rows, each of the nine 3×3 boxes
The objective is to place a number from 1 to 9 in each empty cell so that each row, each column and each 3×3 block contains all the numbers from 1-9.
No number can appear twice in any row, column or block.
In JANRIC Classic Sudoku Bronze puzzles, you may be able to see straight away where a particular number should go.
Scanning the puzzle for pairs of numbers in rows, columns and blocks is a great way to see where a number is missing.
Focus on one particular blank square at a time. Scan its row, column and block. Any numbers that already appear cannot be used to fill in the blank.
Write the possible number options lightly into each square and soon you will be able to eliminate certain numbers.
Continue filling the numbers until every square is filled and the column, row and blocks all contain numbers 1-9.
Remember no number can occur more than once in any row, column or block
JANRIC Classic Sudoku puzzles can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to complete a JANRIC Enterprises Classic Sudoku Gold puzzle.
